The Balme Library provides a serene and congenial atmosphere for academic work. The central location of the Balme Library makes it accessible to all.
The UGCat is the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) of the University of Ghana Library System (UGLS). It may be searched from anywhere there is internet access. PCs are provided at strategic locations on every floor of the Library.
The library offers a number of modern facilities. These include a conference room, seminar and presentation rooms and video conferencing facilities. Presentation aids such as projectors, microphones, whiteboards and flip charts are provided in the seminar, conference and presentation rooms.
The Research Commons (RC) in the newly constructed East Wing offers PCs in a networked environment, study carrels, wireless internet among others, to meet the research needs of graduate students, researchers and faculty in the University.
The 24 - hour reading room has a seating capacity of two hundred (200). This facility offers soft seating, and study tables. Electrical outlets and wireless internet access make it laptop friendly.
The Knowledge Commons (KC) is situated on the ground floor in the newly constructed East Wing. It has more than seventy (70) PCs to meet the study needs of undergraduate students in the University.
Located at the West Wing of the Balme Library, the IAC is a modern multi-functional facility which consists of an Internet lounge, an Instructional lab, a computer lab, a seminar room with video conferencing equipment and an administrative office.
In line with the roll-out of the University of Ghana Repository, some selected materials are currently being digitised. As part of the digitisation efforts, all microforms in the Library are also being converted into digitised formats.
UGCat is the University's online catalogue. The online catalogue stores a record for each item the libraries at UG own. Search the online catalog to find out what a library has on a given topic, or to locate a work by title, by author, etc..
